I’m Jessica Ainscough —
a writer, author, motivational speaker and passionate Wellness Warrior.
I’m living proof that wellness starts in your mind, and that YOU are the most important authority on your own health & body. Over the past four years, I’ve shared my wellness story with hundreds of thousands of online readers — with daily blog posts, recipes, checklists, and inspiring interviews. As The Wellness Warrior, I’ve found my voice, my community, and a platform to do my best work in the world.
Wondering how I got here?

Imagine a talented, driven and deeply imbalanced 22-year old woman.
She’s a rising magazine writer. A champagne-guzzling, drug-poppin’, sleep-deprived, perpetually hungover party girl.
Not a ton of self-esteem — but tremendous potential.
And so much love to give — if she could only figure out how to love herself, first.
Now imagine that girl at the doctor’s office, discovering that her entire left arm & shoulder is riddled with cancer (a rare one called epithelioid sarcoma) — and that the only option (if she wants to survive) is full amputation.
That girl was me. Just five years ago.
It’s hard to believe, because my whole life — my priorities, my values, my choices, the way that I listen to my body & nourish myself — is SO different, today.
I didn’t chop off my arm. I didn’t go into aggressive, full-body chemotherapy.
I didn’t accept that my doctor’s ‘solution’ was the only course of action.
I decided that I would do everything in my power to thrive in life, in spite of the looming expiration date I’d been given.
I learned how to treat myself with absolute kindness & self-respect.
I radicalized my diet. I systematically detoxified my body — and mind.
I discovered that wellness isn’t a destination, but a loving (and unconditionally forgiving) relationship with your own body.
And somewhere along the way, I realised that I was more than a ‘cancer story’ — I was a leader, a role model, an educator, and a champion. Part of an empowering wellness revolution, sweeping the planet. Someone who could change lives & provide HOPE — simply by showing up, and telling my story.
So that’s what I do. Every single day, here at The Wellness Warrior. I tell my story.
People listen, and chime in. And together, we encourage & inspire one another to treat our bodies — and design our lives — with absolute kindness.
