I’m still buzzing from David Wolfe’s conference on Saturday. This is the second time I’ve seen David do his thing on stage, and the eccentric nutrition expert never fails to deliver. His knowledge of everything from superfoods, super herbs, and medicinal mushrooms to hormones, joint health and disease prevention and healing is mind-blowing; and his presence alone is just so entertaining.

image_1[1]

The highlight of the day was winning one of the rawffle prizes (geddit, rawffle?). They scrolled through everyone’s names on the big screen, and mine was the first to be picked. Then, as I was heading up to collect my goodies, David recognised me from an interview I did with him and pulled me up onto stage, gave me a mic and let me share a bit of my story with the crowd. Talk about a pinch-myself moment.

If you’ve ever heard David speak before, you’ll know how much information he churns out. These are just some of the most fascinating bits I jotted down in my notebook:

Wisdom from Mr Wolfe

+ “The thing you should do sucks. The thing you will do rocks!” Start with what is easy and enjoyable for you to do.

+ Build up daily healthy habits to stack the odds in your favour. Incorporate these habits into your life easily – like when you’re sitting in traffic or some other situation when you’re not doing anything anyway. Utilise the time to take herbal tinctures, repeat affirmations etc.

+ Creating a healthy habit is simple. You know the feeling of having a few too many drinks, going to bed and then realising that you forgot to brush your teeth? As soon as you have that thought, you force yourself to get up and brush your teeth. If you can do that, you can do anything! It’s all about creating a habit.

+ Business is spiritual because it expands your capabilities and pushes you to a level of goal setting that you wouldn’t get to otherwise.

+ Medicinal mushrooms (reishi, chaga, shiitake, cordyceps, trametes etc.) are the most powerful healing foods.

+ Cholesterol is the precursor of all hormones. Cholesterol lowering medication wreaks havoc with our hormones.

+ Progesterone cream is one of the most protective supplements we can utilise when it comes to hormone-related disease prevention. It’s also very protective during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.

+ Nettle root (best in tincture form) prevents male pattern baldness.

+ No matter what the problem is, the solution is already there available to us. This is the way that the universe is worked out.

+ Good bacteria in the mouth leads to healthy teeth. Constant use of conventional toothpastes and mouthwashes are like disinfectants, wiping out both good and bad bacteria. We need to replenish the good bacteria in our mouths. Neem is great for this.

+ Cacao is high in iron – higher than any other plant. It’s also high in magnesium. This combo could explain why women crave chocolate when they have their period.

+ If you consume a stimulant, you must balance it with an anti-stimulant (eg. cacao and mucuna).

+ Wake up every morning and chant, “This is going to be the best day ever” over and over again.

WANT TO WIN SOME GREEN SUPERFOODS?

giveaway[1]

MicrOrganics Green Nutritionals are letting me give you guys some of their awesome Green Superfoods powder and glass straws.

This is my favourite green superfood blend, because it includes high percentages of what I consider to be the best greens – spirulina and chlorella, followed by a slightly lower percentage of alfalfa, barley grass and marine plant minerals. The number one reason why I use Green Nutritionals products over any others (besides the fact that they taste better) is because they’re stored in glass and they utilise the ‘LOCTEC’ oxygenless storage system, which is the best way to protect the superfoods’ nutritents. The biggest enemy of superfoods is oxygen, which can quickly damage sensitive vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants, reducing nutritional potency.

Today I’m giving away five 150mg bottles of Green Superfoods powder, plus five glass frog straws.

If you would like to be one of the five winners, leave a comment under this post telling me your favourite green smoothie recipe.

Comp closes next Tuesday, 4 June and winners will be notified via email on Wednesday 5 June. Good luck!

Click here to watch my interview with David.

Positive affirmation for the day: Today is the best day ever.

mmmm… probably on of the best ones I have had: coconut water and meat, cacao, greens, maca, E3 live, banana, almond milk, Lucama, mesquite… Topped with chunks of raw cacao!!!! Thanks to Naked Treaties in Byron! I now try and recreate this at home!!!

I just add the basic green ingredients like Kale, Spinach or Arugula as a base. Then, you include Celery and Cucumbers — which are good for hydration, good for the kidneys, high in silica). On top of that, I usually add a fresh lemon or lime. And then for boosters, you just have to add the most nutritional powerhouses on the planet. This would include Spirulina / Chlorella and Ashitaba / Moringa. Have the best day ever..;)

almond milk, spinach, banana, kale, maca powder spinkled with some cinannamon-delicious!

I don’t have a favourite green smoothie recipe, as every day is a new season, a different feeling or my body has different needs for the day. I try to take what fresh ingrediants are in season and balance that with what my body needs.

Hi Jess, I’m very new to green smoothies and to be honest It’s trial and error at the moment! I’m going slowly, slowly and so far I’m loving kale, avocado, cucumber, frozen banana with coconut water. Maybe some Superfoods Blend would be some much needed added yumminess. Take care of you. Mel

What a awesome experience to tell your story unexpectently.

II just love chlorella and my fruit and veggie smoother everyday as having thyroid nodules I believe it is shrinking. Have been doing this for 2months now and have never felt so good . Thank you for your website .

Ohhh I am always up for trying new greenery brands! So therefore, here is my AMAZING recipe. I call it Fabulous fibre. For regularity and clarity.
This one keep me coming back again and again!

1 cup coconut milk (my new fave thing, oh WOW)
1 banana
1 handful baby spinach
1 small kale leaf
teaspoon-tblespoon chia
teaspoon-tablespoon psyllium husk
teaspoon-tablespoon coconut oil
handful of ice
tablespoon honey

blend and devour, oh yum!
Also a great meal replacement, if so add one tablespoon of hemp seeds xx
Im seeing David Wolfe for the first time in Adelaide next week, you have gotten me very excited for it!

I start every day with this powerful & energising combo –
spirulina, wheat grass, cacao powder, bee pollen, chia seeds, coconut oil, maca powder, 1 x banana, and handful of frozen mixed berries, and throw in about 2 cups of water as the base and blend it all up… now it’s winter I actually put a cup of boiling water in so the coconut oil melts and have this at room temp! So good :)

I Love sweet but i don’t use sugar so for the most sweet smoothie i use for 2 glasses: 1 banana (somethimes 2 :P ), handful of spinach, handful of dried cranberries, some almonds, ground flax seeds, 1/2 inch of ginger, 2 tbs of coconut oil and an inch of water…
The taste is awsome and its gentle to your stomach because of the ginger :)

What a fab prize! My favourite smoothie recipe is kale, water, raw cacao powder, goji berries, strawberries, pee pollen and spirulina. The cacao makes it more of a brown smoothie than a green one, but it’s darn-tootin’ good! :) xx

All organic-water, goji berries, coconut oil, pea protein powder, flax seeds, green powder, spirulina, chlorella, a large bunch of any organic lettuce, frozen blueberries, frozen mangoes, frozen strawberries.

You can make a green smoothie with almost anything. This morning I only had some organic broccoli, so I broke off a couple of flowerettes to add to one frozen banana, half a leftover avodado, sprinkle of turmeric, sprinkle of dulse flakes, desertspoon supergreen powder, one and half glasses of water, blend and voila – superhealth in a glass! Hugs, Romi Naturopath Gold Coast

green smoothie poem… or rap if that’s your thing ha

my fav green smoothie starts with almond milk for the nutty taste,
I then put in some yummy dates for the sweetness, that does never goes to waste!
Chia seeds are a must, bananas(which I love and just about inhale,)
But the most important are my greens from spinach to all types of kale!

Fav green smoothie recipe is, Kale, spinach, celery, parsley, mint, mango and either fresh pineapple or orange juice with also tablespoon of coconut oil.

My favourite is orange, banana, kale, coconut oil, probiotic powder, greens powder, water and ice. The best start to the day!

What great tips! Will be sure to incorporate them into my lifestyle.
I love to start my day with a Green Goddess Vegetable Juice; Green Apple, Kale, Celery, Lemon, Cucumber and alternatively some Beetroot for the liver.

I only just made my first green smoothie last week! I thought it was going to taste horrible (it sure looked horrible) but it was so yummy! It was kale, avocado, pear, blueberries, parsley and coconut water :)

Spinach, grapefruit, lemon, coconut water, chia seeds, cucumber, mint

Favourite smoothie (I am a newbie to the tribe) is a handful of combined lettuce, spinach, parsley. A Bananna, two tsps of a mixture of linseed, sunflower, almond and chia, water and an apple ! Hope I can try this product !

My favourite green smoothie contains kale, spinach, celery, apple, pear and orange juice!

I love my supergreens in almond milk, banana and mixed berry smoothies, add a little cacao powder and a little choccy protein powder…..doesnt looka great colour, but tasted great

Thanks for the handy and helpful superfood info! I have a wide assortment of fav green smoothies but I think the one I’m adoring right now consists of first juicing: beets, apples, cucumbers, and a lemon — then blending it (turning the fresh juice into an amazing smoothie!), with avocado, spinach, and spirulina. It is perfection! Thanks for all the great work that you do.

I call this the Green Monster…4 leaves kale, stems removed
4 leaves chard, stems removed
½ bunch fresh parsley
1 leaf aloe vera
½ bunch dandelion greens
3 pears
1 banana
3 cups water
Yields 2 quarts

So yummy!

My favourite green smoothie recipe is a combo of coconut water, mango, banana, some variety of citrus, spinach or kale and Green Superfoods powder – I love the stuff!

For my go-to green juice I usually add spinach, kale, carrot, lemon, coconut oil, chia seeds and pineapple.

1/2 cucumber

Blend away and enjoy!

I introduced my two littlies (now 5 & 7) to green juices when they were 1 year old and they have been drinking them since. As a teacher and parent, I see first hand how diet/food impacts on behaviour and learning and I believe green juices are a ‘super’ way for children to feel good.
I make them a juice with- celery, cucumber, spinach and apple. Sometimes I throw in kale or red lettuce or anything in abundance in the fridge. For myself, I omit the apple and throw in spirulina. I aslo make the kids smoothies….but that’s for another time. x

I love avocado, spinach, 1/2 a frozen banana, raw cacao, coconut oil, maca powder, cinnamon, and some coconut milk! The end result isn’t exactly green, but the goodness is there and it’s so delicious and thick!

My family’s weekends wouldn’t be complete without our favourite juice/smoothie. Juice 1 lime, 1/2 cucumber, 3 apples, 1/2 pineapple, handful of spinach leaves and 1 celery stick – throw in the blender with a handful of ice and 1/2 avocado and voila! My 2yo and 5yo thinks its the best tasting smoothie ever! And i have the photos to prove it :)

After a couple months of making some horrible smoothies I have finally narrowed the green smoothie down to this:
1 handful spinach or swiss chard NO STEMS
1/2 cumcumber
1 pear
1/2 banana
lemon juice
mint leaves
1 cup coconut milk
1 tbsp spirulina
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp bee pollen
1 tsp aloe gel
1 tbsp flax seed
This recipe is what I would suggest to anyone just getting into eating healthy. Change it up as you need to, to make it a habit. Add cinnamon, honey, stevia or pineappale to those smoothies that you are having a hard time choking down.

Coconut water
Kale
Banana
Almonds
Dates
Cacao
Maca powder

= soo soooo delicious :)

Hi Jess,

Pop all ingredients in a Vitamix, and go for it!

Hi Jess,

My co-worker and I live & work on a remote mine site in Western Australia. We have our food provided to us so have very limited choice of healthy and fresh food but luckily sometimes have access to spinach leaves, pears / apples, celery, cucumber and lemon. We add tbsp of coconut oil and some chia seeds or superfood powders which we purchase online. We blend it all up with a stick blender which takes a bit of time and patience, however the results are tasty, bit lumpy but nevermind! : )

My new fav
Kale
Almond milk
Hemp seeds
Goji berries
Spirilina
Maca power
Blueberries
Keeps me going ALL day! :-)

this recipe is a culmination of all I have learnt from David Wolfe’s wealth of info! he’s such a legend!

My breakfast smoothie has evolved over the years, at the moment it’s two parts. First part is the thicker base blend, the second is a more liquid green hit. I make it in a big batch on Sunday afternoons which is divided into 5 mason ball jars (they are amazing!!) to store for the week. Get up in the morning, stretch and open my breakfast! Shake and drink !

Base: wholegrain oats, chia seed, cacao, macca, a whole lemon, goji berries and frozen blueberries with water.

Top half: Alfalfa, cos lettuce, chard, celery, mint, parsley, basil, cucumber, coconut vinegar and water.

You can see the result here ! — http://postimg.org/image/z9tjcgjij/

At the same time I also pre-make half pint jars for my afternoon pick me up comprising of: chard, kale, macca, garlic, ginger, whole lemon, honey

Hi Jess, how ironic that our note taking is very similar. That’s my style! And so disappointed I didn’t recognise/bump into Cyndi O’Meara, I wasn’t looking for her. She’s in Goondiwindi on June 11th and of course I’m attending her event, hence a chance meeting before hand would have been great! Again, thank u for getting me started on spirulina again, I never knew the ‘right one’ could taste so good. I love your giveaway, only problem is I can’t take gluten! Green smoothies are the best, and rarely ever are two the same. Cheers

I love kale, walnuts, chia seeds, banana and almond milk. Yummm-o!

Hi Jess I like to mix it up a bit but find this is the old faithful: Handful of kale or spinach, cucumber, zucchini, green apple, celery, lemon, parsley and spirulina. Sometimes some avo when in season.

In summer when cherries are in season I love making my version of a “Cherry Ripe”
-cherries, cacao, spinach, maca and coconut water. Sometimes a dash of coconut milk if I am after something a bit richer!

I love the idea of using green tea as the liquid for green smoothies, although coconut water is great as well.

For the last fortnight I have read your blog and numerous others you have suggested, I'm so inspired yet extremely overwhelmed by all the information, all the products and not to mention the gadgets. Where do you start without buying an expensive powerful blender to make these delicious, fresh and nutritional green juices, what green powders are better in value, taste and nutritional benefit, I’ve literally had to make a comparison chart, documenting the quantity of each ingredient and each day I find a new fantastic product that changes all my previous work, at least one thing is for certain, there sure is A LOT of choice!

Your weekend sounds amazing!

Ok. My usual (daily) green smoothie is whatever I mix from the fridge / garden / cupboard as a fruit/greens/superfoods combo.
Today I tried something new but have to credit Loving Earth for the idea. ( Hopefully there is no green smoothie plagiarism that I’ve breached!?!) anyway I changed it up a bit see-

1/2 head broccoli
1tsp Spirulina (green nutritionals of course!) (suck)
1tsp chlorella
Handful ice
1/2 tsp maca
Lug of cocoanut cream
2drops of stevia (cos pineapple not ripening quick in Syd this time of year)
Blend. Enjoy. Smile

My favourite green smoothie is what I like to call “My Morning Minty Mad-House Smoothie”. Usually I mix up the quantities of ingredients but its more or lesss…..

Hi Jess,
Thanks so much for the chance to win such fantastic prizes! I’m so looking forward to seeing David this Saturday in Melbourne. Being still quite new to mine and my family’s health quest, I’m enjoying learning and experimenting with new recipes and also absolutely loving smoothies. Also is our 2 year old little girl! She loves her green smoothie moustache. Would love to win either prize to also start to add more greens to our drinks. I agree with you MicrOrganics Green Nutritionals superfood blend looks like the best product, can’t wait to try it.

My family’s favourite green smoothie recipe at the moment would have to be -

Kale, Spinach or Cos Lettuce
Banana
Cacao
Flaxseed Meal

Chia seeds
Rice Milk
Avocado
Maca Powder.

I juice 3 carrots, whole celery, 1 beetroot and ginger. Then I make a smoothie from water, kale, spinach, parsley and bok choy and add a frozen banana, apple and orange. Then add all together.

Hi jess
My two little boys just luurve their teenage mutant ninja turtle smoothies (could not get them to try it until I suggested this name for them). It’s very simple but a great way to get extra greens into them – two handfuls baby spinach, one/two frozen bananas, chia seeds and a little almond milk.

Thanks for once again sharing such valuable information Jess! My favourite green smoothie is kale, cucumber, green apple, lime and a big bunch of mint, all blended in the VM with filtered water (served in a tall sundae glass!)

My fave green smoothie is banana, red papaya, kale, parsley lime & filtered water. I have been sharing it around the office at work YUM!!

My favorite green smoothie is Berries, green powder, coconut milk, banana, flax seeds and water. Thanks for the giveaway!

Super cool. My fave green smoothie is what I call the “Blast Off”; its in line with David’s philosophy of chucking everything you have at it! Begin with cooled gynosteema tea, 2 opened Cordyseps capsules and 4 opened Magu Treasure capsules (Ron Teequarden’s Dragon Herbs), add MicrOrganics Spirulina in Summer (as it’s cooling) or MicrOrganics Chlorella in Winter (as this is warming), Maca (every second day), Cacao, Cumu Camu, Chia seeds and Astragalus. This drink is energy packed and blasts me into the day. PS it also helped cured me of 2 auto-immune diseases

To sweeten add half a dropper of English Toffee Liquid Stevia or raw honey if candida in not a problem

This is very similar to what I have prior to eating dinner. Instead of the tea I use water kefir, but I must try the tea some time. I also have the chlorella and spirulina based on the time of year (warming vs cooling effect) but I have them in my green smoothie recipe which I posted here). I too am on the Chinese herbs you mention. Excellent that this superdrink has helped you to overcome some health issues :)

wow!!!

so sorry i couldn’t make it to hear the man speak in person – it’s fantastic that someone with such charisma is out there spreading the enthusiasm for what is simply living! so, my favourite green smoothie recipe:
spinach, celery, corriander, spirulina, tumeric, ginger, garlic, almonds, coconut water, just a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and you will be zinging and full of energy. oh and as for quantities/ratios, that just depends on how much of each I have on hand and whether I need it extra-zingy or just a little more mellow (that is in relation to the garlic/ginger and tumeric). this is also a great energy booster after physical exercise (be that work-related or just for pleasure). keep spreading the good word(s)!

Wow – there are so many responses with great ideas, I am excited to try a few. Love your website. Thank you for being a pioneer foody for us all. So my new favorite green smoothie goes like this: I juice (cold pressed) all organic celery, cucumber, parsley, kale, ginger, apple, and lemon. Then I add this juice with a banana (and one more kale stalk!) with hemp, coconut, soaked chia seeds and goji berries, cacao, bee pollen, spirulina or E3-Live, dates and maca!!!!!!!

Hi Jess! LOVE your blog/outlook on life/inspirational words. I have recently been quite overweight, unhappy and was heading into a depressive hole when I started researching how to make my life better. I gratefully stumbled upon your website and look forward to reading it every day. I am very much on my way to a healthy weight and have never been happier. People say I am ‘glowing’ and I am so thankful for your ‘green goodness’ as part of my everyday ritual. My favourite green mix is celery, avacado, mint, coconut water, limes, spirulina and spinach. It makes me smile, as do you! Keep up your ‘shiny-ness!’

Hi Jess!
I love adding slippery elm to my green smoothies, it adds a delicious sweet woody flavour :) Add to that organic kale, spinach leaves, cos leaf, frozen banana, spirulina and maca powder = delicious!

oops! How could I forgot the coconut water :)

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks, I cup blueberries, large handful kale, spirulina and wheatgrass with coconut milk

the best green smoothies are the simplest.
Spinach, pineapple, pear, apple, lime, avocado, water :)

Oh I love me a green smoothie. My favourite is 2 big handfuls of spinach; 1 cup fresh coconut water; 1/2 tbspn Almond butter; 1-2 Tbspns chia seeds; 1 frozen banana and a handful of frozen grapes of berries. DE-LISH!

Still stuck on my fav, spinach, green apple, celery, cucumber, lime, coconut water and ice

I have a green smoothie daily! It does wonders for my energy and I have even seen a difference in my immune system.
My favourite ingredients are banana, kale, spinach, celery, ginger, lemon or lime, chia seeds, coconut water and sometimes a bit of maca.
I would love to try a good quality super greens in my smoothie too

Humm my favourite is.. half a banana, handful of raspberries, handful of blueberries, handful of spinich, a large leaf of silverbeat, a leaf of coz with a base of coconut water ice, freshly squeezed lemon juice and for protein some hemp seeds and bee pollen… and if I want it really protein packed. . Some spirilina too! Yumm. :) xx

My favorote green smoothie is kale/spinach, vital greens powder, banana, bkueberries, maca and coconut water

Simple! Kale, Banana, Green Apple, Celery & Cucumber :):)

Hmmm Nettle root… now to try and slip it into my (not ready to admit he’s going bald) boyfriends diet without him noticing…
On another note, my all time favourite smoothie is spinach, kale, almond butter, cacao, almond milk, frozen banana and a hint of vanilla. mmmm breakfast or dessert, or both!

If you have a SENSITIVE STOMACH and are prone to bloating/gas/leaky gut/IBS and other digestive issues, it’s a good idea to KEEP FRUITS AND VEGETABLES SEPARATE rather than combining them in smoothies or juices which can wreak havoc on the gut (leading to putrification and slower/incomplete digestion). I eat my fruit on an empty stomach an hour after drinking clay and additional water. I don’t eat any more fruit and from there on its green smoothies, juices, salads consisting of only veggies/sprouts. For dinner I have steamed veggies with some kind of protein.
My green smoothie recipe varies depending on the seasons and availability of produce but generally it’s something like this:

Detoxifying Green Smoothie
- coconut kefir or milk kefir (to make the milk more digestible and full of good bacteria).
- 2-3 kale leaves
- handful spinach
- chunk of ginger
- 1/4 beetroot (for sweetness) and beet tops if available
- dash of green powdered stevia (optional for extra sweetness)
- tsp of MSM or diatomaceous earth
- tsp of chlorella or spirulina
- tsp of powdered superfood
Another tip I have learned is to “chew” the smoothie rather than glug it down quickly. Once you have sucked it up with the straw, let it sit in the mouth a bit before swallowing. This helps to produce enzymes in the saliva and to prepare the stomach for what is about to come! If the taste receptors on the tongue can sense bitterness (for example in the kale leaves) then it triggers the liver to detoxify.

Forget to mention adding in a few mint leaves for extra zing. From someone that never liked anything minty, I am now addicted(!!!) and got half a dozen varieties of mint growing in pots on my back steps

I love having green smoothies every day, they make a world of difference to my energy and are a great boost for my immunity.
My fave ingredients are banana, kale, spinach, celery, ginger, lemon or lime, chia seeds, coconut water and occasionally a bit of maca. I would love to start adding some super greens as well

My all time favourite
Spinach, blueberries, banana, paw paw, chia seeds, almond milk.
Would LOVE the opportunity to try this.

Green smoothies are life changing. I know it’s a big call, most people say that about falling in love or finding God (Universe, Source etc). I must say that my mind and spirit found God and body found Love in my green smoothies. Holy cow – they’re amazing. When my mum had to face up to some serious facts about her health recently the first thing I did was show her the power of a green smoothie and man they’re a game changer. She’s obsesssed… I now travel with my blender, half of which comes in my hand luggage. Like I said – Obsessed :)
I make a litre of this and sip on it until lunchtime. (all Organic ingredients)
- Juice of one lemon
- 1/4 Avocado
- small handful of activated Almonds
- Two deliciously curly beautiful Kale leaves
- 1 Celery Stalk
- Fresh mint
- Frozen Bananna
- 1/2 Green Apple
- Young Coconut water and flesh (scoop that goodness outta there!)
- Tsp Raw Honey
Now spike with your favourite superfoods – I use
- Chlorella
- Marine Phytoplankton
- Spirulina
- Chia Seeds

Sprinkle with Gojis for colour and serve…
Thanks Jess! So jealous you got to meet David Wolfe! What a babe! xx

Hi jess! Just started reading your blog… V inspiring, my green smoothie has handful of spinach, couple of parsley stalks, tsp of probiotic power, teaspoon of green powder, an apple, quarter of a pineapple and quarter avocado.. The avocado makes it creamy! :) xxx

handful spinach
handful kale
half a frozen banana
handful of strawberry’s
few frozen fruits
dash of maca powder
Rachel

Apple, Pear, Spinach and Kale : )

I love my green smoothies- but I certainly can’t give a one best recipe. My smoothies are entirely dependent on which organic greens look the best at the market, and what fruit is in season! But I can say some form of greens supplement and some maca are pretty much essential! :)

I like to think of my smoothie making as a bit of an art form. My perfect smoothie has kale, spinach, banana, honey, cashews (pre soaked) coconut oil, coconut water, rice milk, maca powder. Hemp seeds and bee pollen sprinkled on top. Yummo.

2 silverbeet leaves, 1 kale leaf, 1 cup coconut water, 1/2 tsp each of bee pollen, maca powder, spirulina and slippery elm, 2 tbsp homemade coconut yogurt, 1 frozen banana and 1 kiwi. Blend and enjoy… Yum!

My housemate catered that conference!

My favourite green smoothie (aka breakfast!)…
- 1 tablespoon coconut kefir
- 1 cup coconut water (fresh)
- 3 teaspoons spirulina
- 1 or 2 scoops Sunwarrior vanilla protein powder
- 2 teaspoons mesquite powder
- huge handful spinach
- huge handful kale (leaves only…I save the stalks for juicing)

Hi Jess!
My favourite green smoothie includes:
-small handful of soaked almonds
-whole cacao beans or nibs
-1/2 organic lemon (rind and all)
-big fistful of leafy greens (spinach, beet leaves, kale etc.)
-stick or two of celery
-thumb of ginger
-soaked chia seeds
-half of something sweet to balance the flavour! (apple, pear, banana, frozen berries etc)
-coconut water or pure water
-Oh and super greens!!! But I’m running out and would love to try this brand…through a straw….with a frog on it.
Keep sharing your wise words and have a beautiful day.

I love green smoothies since I came across them on Pinterest two years ago. Yep. My favourite green smoothie would be a big handful of baby spinach, half a banana, 3-4 strawberries and a small handful of pinapple, topped with a teaspoon of chia seeds for the extra omega 3! The frog straw is froggin’ cute!

My favorite green smoothie is, baby spinach, cucumber, half an apple, a few blueberries some maca powder, a squeeze of lemon and some ginger! Yum :)

Hi Jess and everyone!
I’m never sure if this counts as a green smoothie, since the only reason it goes green is because of the superfoods in it! Does that make it a green smoothie?! Anyway, here is the recipe and it’s delicious:
Oat milk, 1 x banana, spinach, cacao nibs, maca powder, chlorella, spirulina, hemp seeds, chia seeds.
Enjoy people!

Hi Jess. Sounds like you had an amazing day at the David Wolfe seminar. I’m looking forward to going next weekend. Never know I might win a ‘rawffle’ too – fingers crossed. I would love to win some fantastic Micororganics Greens so here is my fav green smoothie: 3 good handfuls of dark greens like kale, parsley, or spinach, Tblspn hemp seeds, Tsp Chlorela and Spirulina, a frozen Banana and a cheek of frozen Mango. Blend until smooth. Enjoy xx

My favourite is organic romaine, spinach, apple, pear, celery, lemon juice, banana

My favourite is romaine lettuce, spinach, celery, apple, pear, parsley, banana and lemon juice (all organic) with alkaline water……from Kimberly Synder.

My favorite green smoothie: 2 cups water, 2 packed cups kale, 2 stalks celery, 1 apple, 1 cup frozen mango, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1 teaspoon spirulina. It makes 2 pint glasses of smoothie. My husband and I enjoy this everyday!

My favorite is boring but reliable: a banana, some almond milk (unsweetened vanilla usually), a little flax, a little nut butter, and TONS of greens! I’m constantly playing a game with myself: just how much spinach/kale/chard can I squash into this blender? I sometimes add berries, too, but let’s be serious: I’d rather eat ‘em whole! :) I have, however, been playing around with Brendan Brazier’s smoothies from Thrive. The chocolate almond smoothie is to DIE for – drank it right after my first marathon!

My fav smoothie recipe (which I religiously have been drinking every morning for 11 months!!) is: frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries, frozen raspberries, 1/2 banana, chia seeds, flax seeds and kale. YUM, YUM, YUMMMM!!!!!!

I love to use coconut water, spinach, kale, celery, apple, chia seeds and banana & frozen berries!

sorry I forgot to add coconut oil too!!

My morning green smoothie is…coconut water, handfuls of kale and spinach, apple, banana, goji berries, coconut oil, frozen mixed fruit! The rule in our house is that my children have to have a glass of this every morning before they leave for school!

I love coconut water, a few leaves of kale, a green drink mix scoop (usually inner light), blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds and/or flax seeds, hemp hearts or hemp protein, cacao…mmm! Goodness in a glass!

Hi Jess! I’ve only been juicing for a few months now, but already my taste buds have been changing like crazy! I used to need lots of fruit to help me tolerate the greens. Now, I’m appreciating the silky creaminess and spicy sweetness of spinach combined with carrot and ginger. I drink 3 quarts of this mix a day and have felt such an amazing boost of vitality! It’s been so worth going through all the extensive layers of detox needed to once again experience some of the simple joys that I used to take for granted. And I look forward to more!! Our lives are worth fighting for and cherishing.

Hi Jess!
Avo, Chia, Chlorophyll, Dates, Love, Spinach, Almond Milk & Wheatgrass = Heaven! x

My favorite greem smoothie recipies are YOURS of course but in a pinch I always use, kale, carrots, beets, and an apple (and anything else I can find in my fridge). I juice these then add a frozen banana, some ground flaxseed and blend! Yummy!

It’s a bit naughtier than my usual, but I’m loving Kale, Coconut milk, hemp seed, Almond butter (home made of course) Banana, maca and chia. its magic in a glass.

I’m an Sunshine Coast-er living in London and my goodness it’s a whole other world in terms of accessible healthy food products (I’m Gluten & Dairy intolerant) , but green smoothies/juices are my saviour! So I’ll be snaking these other recipes! Thanks Jess! x

My favorite green smoothie is called green lemonade. I juice six leaves of kale; one head of romaine; two apples; one lemon; and a one inch by one inch hunk of ginger. Add a little stevia if needed and enjoy!

My favorite green smoothie is what I call my 6 greens with a twist. I use 1 green apple, 1 avocado, spinach, kale, cucumber, swiss chard and juice of 1 lemon (with some filtered water). I also toss in some chorella tablets.

forgot the parsley too :)

My morning juice has been made even more special this week by supping a massive glass whilst sat in the hot tub every morning in Cornwall :-) – My Cornish hot tub beauty – apple, lemon, celery, cucumber, avocado, chia seeds, hemp seeds and eskimo 3 oil – beautiful :-) xx

I like water, handful of spinach, an apple, orange, little bit of cucumber, frozen banana and some flax seed. (mostly Dreena Burton’s recipe, plus the flax)

Just had it this morning, it was delish!

OK – I have not been brave enough to try green smoothies – as yet. Have only recently discovered your blog (thnak you!). Still learning…still discovering…

Hi, I’m just discovered your website a few days ago and reading all about it. It’s all new for me. I’m amazed with all the stories and want to learn more. Thanks Jess

My fave smoothie is banana, assorted berries (both fresh or frozen), cold green tea, handfuls of spinach, maca and bee pollen and a handful of nuts (I like Brazil nuts for the selenium, but I mix it up).
The berries can make it more brown than green depending on quantity but it tastes delicious

Large handful of spinach and/or kale, pea protein powder, supergreen powder (hopefully this one soon!), 1/3 to 1/2 of a frozen banana, chia seeds, ground flaxseed, 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk. Love your powerful information, thanks for presenting it in such an approachable way!

My favourite green smoothie recipe is:

- handful of kale
- handful of spinach
- 1 frozen banana
- frozen strawberries
- frozen blueberries
- raw cacao powder
- chia seeds
- homemade almond milk

It’s like a dessert! I have one at least three times a week.

Great post, Thank you so much! My fave is: Coconut water, spirulina, maca powder, kale, celery, green apple, shredded coconut, raw cacao :) xx

Hi Jess

1 Avocado
1 Coconut
1 Banana
1/4 Pinapple

My green smoothie may not be too adventurous, but I do have one every single day so points for consistency! I small frozen banana, juice of 1/2 lemon, three kale leaves, juice of a small apple, water and 1 1/2 teaspoons of maca powder. Yum!

Hi Jess!
I’ve found this one to be the most refreshing, tasty and sustaining also the lemon makes the iron more easily absorbed and the chia adds protein. There are a lot of ingredients but it makes a great breaky, I add cacao instead of maca if I need a boost:
2 stalks kale
2 stalks celery
1 carrot
1 lemon juiced
Mint
Ginger ( big chunk)
Coconut water
1/4 cucumber
Chia seeds
Maca
Cinnamon

Xx

In the mornings I have always struggled to start right (I tend to get there half way through the day), so I have started making a green juice last thing at night with celery, green apple and lemon in it. I also keep bananas in the freezer. So first thing now, I pour some juice into my vitamix throw in some frozen banana and kale, plus my MSM, Vit C powder, Magnesium Powder and maca, whiz and enjoy in the car on the way to Uni instead of coffee!! Having the juice premade, may not be ideal for nutrients but it has allowed me to start and continue with a good habit.
Love your work Jess

My Green Berry Blend

Handful of spinach, celery tops, lettuce
Handful of blueberries
1 banana
Homemade almond milk
Pinch of cinnamon
Coconut cream
Probiotics (Changing Habits)

A couple of Cocoa wafers (Changing Habits)
A squeeze of lemon or lime
Blend together and serve… Yum!!

Hey hey,
I love coconut water, kale, spinach, rainbow chard, parsley, spirulina powder, chia seeds, lucuma, maqui, cocoa, small handful of goji berries, 1/2 a lemon, 1/2 a frozen banana and 1/2 cup mixed berries. It fills me up for hours and hours and has me buzzing with energy all day! And drinking it out of fun glassware would make it even better :)

Hi Jess, would love to find some of this but where can you get it?
I have no favourite smoothie recipe because nearly every one of them is different and that’s how it should be right?! Keep getting a variety of minerals and nutrients into our system to get overall benefit. Plus on the days the kale makes itself into yummy baked chips instead of smoothies means spinach becomes the green of choice :-)
But I always, always add to every smoothie: maca powder, green superfood powder, bee pollen and acai when I want an antiox hit.
So super thank you for getting me hooked on my smoothies – love them!

Hi Jess! I love kale, cucumber, banana, some lemon juice, coconut oil and chia seeds. Thanks to healthTalks i learnt how easy it is to make in my good old blender! Thanks for all you do :)

My fave green smoothie is the following:
Kale
Spinach
Celery
Carrot
Beetroot
Mint
Ginger
Kiwi fruit (skin on for more fibre)
Flaxseed
One banana
Splash coconut milk
And cold green tea as the base.
It’s a fresh mix each day and the portions are never the same but mainly vege based with one- two fruit pieces!
Ps love your blog!!!!

My fave mix is: kale, spinach, celery, carrot, beetroot, kiwi fruit with skin on, mint, one banana, ginger, splash coconut milk, green tea as the base, flaxseed and chia seeds, and some nuts (whatever I have around). It’s always a random ratio but is amazing and great for you and always makes enough so I can drink more throughout the day!

Hi Jessica – I am in Croatia with my husband at present visiting his family. I cannot live without my green smoothie so the first day I HAD to purchase a blender. With travelling around I am a bit restricted but I have a least one green smoothie (often more) a day…..my favourite is:
a big handful of fresh (from local market) spinach
one ripe banana
one teas cacao
one heaped teas linseed
coconut milk from fresh coconut

My favorite smoothie is one I don’t make that often (because it’s really not that green) but when I do ….OMG ! I love to bust it out when I want to “convert” someone to the smoothie revolution haha.

1 Avocado
2 frozen ripe bananas
1 tablespoon raw cocao powder
3 pitted dates
1 teaspoon tumeric powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon cocao nibs
300ml filtered water (may need more depending on desired consistency )
and I just know a recommended dose of Green nutritional’s would add any extra greens you feel you are missing.

Enjoy! if anyone happens to try it xx

Hi Jess,
I looooooove a bit of spinach, avocado, coconut milk, hemp seeds, almond butter, maca, filtered water (or coconut water after exercise), and I occassionally add some blueberries or a frozen banana (if i feel like a thicker smoothy)!
I want to boost them with some more ‘greens’ so am thinking of adding some sprouts to it next week!

Hi Jess,
My favourite green smoothie is a handful of spinach leaves, a stick of celery, a ripe banana, some apple juice and a tablespoon of honey. I love this because I can convince my 4 year old son to drink it, as he won’t eat veggies.

Every morning my green smoothie consists of: 1 cup of cold antioxidant tea/coconut milk, spinach leaves, fresh oregano leaves, kale, celery leaves, parsley, mint, cos lettuce, fresh ginger, 1/2 lemon, 1/2 apple, 1 cucumber, 1 scoop of tribal seed mix, spirulina, chlorella, glucosomine, apple cider vinegar, cacoa powder, maca powder, superfoods green and reds mix, berry blend crystals and bee pollen. YUM!!!

Hi Jess,

I am a massive fan of the all-around morning smoothie.
Kale
Spinach
Beetroot Greens

LSA
Coconut Water or Spiralina or Water (sometimes a combination of all)
Banana
Frozen Blueberries or Raspberries
Hempseed Oil
Greek Yoghurt (that I’ve made)
Either Maca Powder or Rainbow Powder (that has blue-green algae in it).

After meeting with you at Kunara on Weds morning & loving your Green Superfoods Smoothie, I attempted to make my first green smoothie ever:) & it tasted delicious!!! Thank You <3
Had the same as yours, Green Superfoods, kale, cucumber, cos lettuce, banana & coconut water + I also added chia seeds, spinach, celery, apple & ginger (all organic from Kunara of course;)

I always tend to put in anything I have at the time, but my favourite combination so far is – coconut flesh and coconut water from one coconut, handful each of kale, spinach, any sprouts, half a banana, chia seeds, tbs Vitalgreens and lemon juice

mmm……pineapple, banana, coconut water, kale, cos lettuce, squeeze of lime juice and a teaspoon of whichever green powder I have on hand :)

awesome to mwet David Wolfe. The green superfoods sound amazing.

Hi jess,
I just made the best tasting smootie ever!! And its a little different to my usual.
1 banana, kefir milk, supergreens powder, kimberly plum powder, maca powder, lettuce, spinach, beetroot leaves and the ingredient that just made it so terrific!!……. Small sprig of fresh chocolate mint. I will be adding the choc mint more often now!
Xxx

1 1/2 cups fresh pineapple
1 large handful basil
1 large handful spinach
1 cup coconut milk
(optional: teaspoon honey)
1 cup ice

My favourite green smoothie is not green… it’s grey. I have created perhaps the ugliest smoothie ever! The colour is because it has green powder (similar to the above you’re promoting Jess but maybe not as good?) and blueberries=grey. It also has a banana, coconut water, bee pollen, maca, goji berries, probitoic powder, hemp and chia seeds, ground linseeds, cacao nibs, L-glutamine powder (to heal my leaky gut), cinnamon, coconut oil and rice bran. A bit excessive maybe but I feel like I am covering all bases with this one. And it is really yummy, despite its ugliness. Having trouble converting anyone though, might need to pretty it up!

Kimberly Snyder’s glowing green smoothie. The ingredients are easy to obtain, dont cost the earth (you may even grow some of your own) and importantly taste great. I downloaded your smoothie recipe ebook a few years ago Jess and love them. Youre really only limited by your imagination when creating a smoothie :-)

My favorite smoothie consists of almond milk, pineapple, spinach, parsley, mint, lemon, and raw honey.

My older sister was diagnosis with Ewing’s Sarcoma cancer last Jan 2012. She is doing very well with daily green smoothie and the recipe is below…
spirulina, freeze-dried fermented beet juice made by my parents, freeze-dried fermented raw vegetables powder made by my parents, half organic apple, carrot, kale and collards. She sometime mix with other greens such as cucumber, celery, etc. Using Nutribullet by Wolfe. I personally think this green drinks help my sister’s cancer cells shrinking. =)

Hi Jess! Mine varies according to what is in the fridge and garden. it is usually a really big handful of parsley from the garden, a whole Lebanese cucumber (with skin), 1/2 apple, a stalk of celery, two big handfuls of baby spinach and rocket, 1tsp flax seeds, 1 tsp chia seeds, water (or some coconut water if I have it), the juice of 1/2 lemon and…. a big glug of Tabasco! I love Tabasco in everything and it gives the smoothie a nice kick :)

Every Sunday I go to the Northey Street markets and so on Saturday I love making a delicious juice with everything green in my fridge. Broccoli, Bok choy, Kale, Beetroot leaves, celery, cucumber, lemon and ginger. I love the fact that even if vegetables are looking a little sad they can easily be made into a sensational juice.

It was fantastic meeting you at David Wolfe. You inspired me to start my own blog.
Melissa

Thanks for all the info! Mine is a bit boring but here goes:
Coconut juice (or cucucmber, cabbage and apple juice) kale, avocado, banana, super green powder, chia, maca and then some rice protein powder if I’ve exercised. Looks like pond sludge but tastes great!

KALE MANGO SMOOTHIE
5 leaves kale, any kind
1 mango
1 banana
1 c. water
white grape juice when necessary to sweeten

Thanks Jess, love your website!

Hi Jess
Love being part of your world, thanks for sharing. This is a green smoothie that the whole family loves from our 3yo 7yo 15yo & hubby & me. Juice & flesh from drinking coconut, spirilina, papaya , pineapple , spinach/kale,bee pollen.
The light green colour looks yummy & is scrumptious too.

My pick of green smoothie. Kale, celery, cucumber, mint, pineapple, lemon, ginger and last of all I add flaxseed oil. Nice….

My favourite is almond milk with chia seeds, acidophidus powder, banana, frozen berries, a huge handful of alfalfa and as much kale as I have at the time. Alfalfa blends in so well you can’t tell it is there. Neither can the kids!

Our favourite smoothie recipe includes kale, coconut cream, bananas, spirulina, cacao, mesquite, chia seeds, pea isolate protein powder, filtered akalised water – every morning. Our 4.5 year old loves this, and reminds me each morning to make it ;-) She also makes a great green frog sound – and this straw would be a hit !!!

Hey Jess,

My favourite is – kale, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, raspberries, frozen banana, coconut water and flax seeds :)

Hi Jess, I love what you stand for and you amazing work :) I am wondering about the use of the progesterone cream. Should it be used in the last two weeks of a women’s cycle or for the entire cycle excluding menstruation? Thanks Jess.

Hmm, this is awesome! Favorite green smoothie?? I tend to like fruits in mine, too, but I am trying to cut back a bit. I’d say: ice, banana, mango, spinach, cucumber, coconut milk. Thanks for sharing!

apple, kale, English spinach, carrot, lemon, zucchini and cucumber! delicious and filling and the perfect shade of green!

I must admit I’m new to this scene, but constantly inspired by not just your posts Jess but the community of followers. Sometimes, actually often people look at me strange for my food choices, or friends quiz me like I’m a freak about my health journey. But I am inspired reading all the green smoothie recipes (and taking notes).
After the recommendation the other week I purchased ‘Beauty Detox Foods’ and have been embarking on her Glowingly Green Smoothie every morning. One week in and I am feeling better and brighter (and proud).
I look forward to following a new path to a better me and being part of this community of Warriors!
Glowingly Green Smoothie (my version)
7 cups spinach
5 cups cos lettuce
1 large cucumber
I pear
1 banana
1/2 lemon juiced
2 cups cold filtered water.
Directions:
Blend the liquid and lettuce/spinach first because if you have a normal blender this will take a while. It needs the most breaking down. Then throw the chopped cucumber and fruit in, whiz it up and enjoy.
This usually last me 2 days and I sometimes have it in the afternoon as well as morning.

Hi Jess!
Favourite Green Smoothie:
-Banana
-Kale

Hi Jess,

That sounds like a special day indeed. Lovely inspiration :) thank you

My fav green smoothie, though I do agree it depends on the season and how I’m feeling, is indulgently nutritious as I can afford and currently looks like this: coconut water, maca, nettles, lettuce, cucumber, mint, coriander, celery and cacao powder plus any fresh sprouts I have on hand.. Deelish!

Some great recipes here to try…I am new to green smoothies. I make one with coconut water as the base, sometimes using a fresh coconut so add some coconut too,an organic banana, vanilla infused raw honey(WaggleDance) and some barley grass powder to turn it green. Am keen to try some other options out, haven’t tried green superfood powder,so love to win some.

So interesting to read your summary Jess after seeing the man himself in Dunsborough over the weekend! What an absolute champion. Great post!x

Hi all!

I am currently volunteering in Africa where there is no resource for fresh produce = no smoothies! Having no power doesn’t help either. I have Maca Powder and Spirulina that was sent accross from my BFF. Is it OK to blend these two together with nothing except filtered water for a morning drink?

Kale, green apples, beets and ginger.

Where do I start …well every morning …my amazing starter green smoothie
Pomegranate juice, fresh ginger, fresh tumeric, chia seeds flax seeds, kelp powder, Himalayan salt, coconut oil, macca powder, vit c powder, lime juice, cucumber, celery, miracle tree leaves, kale, parsley silver beet, and a few cubes of ice and yumo!!.

I would love to win some green food supplements. I am into low sugar smoothies right now. Taking a break from juicing. No counter space. I love kale Chips. So I make organic kale smoothies with vanilla protein powder and organic almond milk. Can add a few organic blueberries. I woukd live to learn about mushrooms particularly reishi, spelling? I need to incorporate a healing food,Supp, etcetera in my diet. My mom had morels growing on her farm that people woukd come at night and steal. But one day I got very sick and I think I may have had a poison or ate too many. Maybe you have insight? Thank you so much for your inspirational educational work you do. God bless
